Board Placement Service for Nonprofits - Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston
Nonprofits looking for board members are invited to participate in the Business on Board program offered by the Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston, a training and placement program for business professionals who want to serve on a nonprofit board.
Established in 2003, Business on Board has trained and placed business professionals on more than 200 nonprofit boards in the Greater Boston area.
Nonprofits seeking board members through the program must complete training through the Arts & Business Council before qualifying for board matching services. They then join a matching database from which participants select the board they would like to join.
Participating nonprofits host the potential board member as an observer for the four-month duration of the program. The observer attends board meetings and other events to get to know the organization. At the end of the program, the nonprofit is free to nominate the observer to the board or not, depending on fit and the organization's needs.
Interested potential board members pay a $2,000 fee to participate in the program.
