United Way Offers Free Website Design for 48 Mass. Nonprofits
March 20, 2017 The United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley last week announced it is partnering with a national organization that is offering to create a website without charge for 48 Massachusetts nonprofits.
The websites, designed and developed by local professionals, will enable the organizations to their story and mission, according to the Boston-based United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley
"United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley is excited to be partnering with 48in48 to deliver a great opportunity to our nonprofit community in the Boston area," noted Joel Jaquez, community impact coordinator and analyst for the United Way.
"48in48 understands that many nonprofits may choose to spend their time and dollars doing good rather than looking good, and for a limited time is offering local nonprofits the unique opportunity to apply for a brand new, professionally designed website."
The 48in48 organization, which has built nonprofit websites in other parts of the country will host an event in June during which coders and designers will create sites of up to 15 pages in a 48-hour period.
To be considered for a free website, applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations registered in Massachusetts, serving the local community, and have an annual operating budget of $3 million or less. It must also "demonstrate how the project will make a significant and sustainable impact in increasing access to services across communities served."
In addition, the organizations must have at least one permanent employee who knows how to navigate the internet.
The United Way will oversee the selection process.
Participating nonprofits should expect to spend effort and time preparing, planning, and writing content for their website, which will go live at the end of the weekend event. They will be able to update content afterward.
Websites will be hosted by 48in48 after the event, for a monthly charge, or nonprofits can opt to arrange to have their sites hosted on another server.
The deadline to apply
for the free website is March 31. For more information, contact Jaquez at JJaquez@unitedwaymassbay.org
