Patricia Ahern Named President, CEO of Care Dimensions
March 24, 2017 Care Dimensions, a Danvers-based nonprofit provider of hospice care in eastern Massachusetts, this week announced that it has named Patricia Ahern as its next president and chief executive officer.
Ahern, who assumes the role on May 1, will succeed Diane Stringer, who is retiring after serving 28 years in the post.

With both a nursing background and an MBA, she has the clinical and strategic business skills and a true passion for the mission which will enable her to provide the vision and leadership to move Care Dimensions forward.
Ahern has more than 30 years of leadership experience in healthcare that spans the continuum of care delivery services, including acute care hospitals and hospice and palliative care organizations. Most recently, she was CEO of the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care in Buffalo, which serves nearly 500 hospice and 350 palliative care patients daily.
Earlier, Ahern served as president and CEO of Chicagos Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care for 18 years.

Having led large non-profit hospices in Buffalo and Chicago, she brings a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities of the ever-changing landscape of healthcare, which made her the unanimous choice of the Board of Directors.

Ahern earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern Illinois University, a nursing diploma from Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Evanston, Illinois, and an MBA from North Park University.
She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and was appointed to the New York State Palliative Care Education and Training Counsel. Previously, she was a member of the American Heart Association and the Rotary Club, where she has served in board capacities on the state, regional, and national level.
Founded in 1978 as Hospice of the North Shore, Care Dimensions is the largest hospice provider to adults and children with advanced illness in Massachusetts. As a community-based leader in advanced illness care, Care Dimensions provides comprehensive hospice, palliative care, grief support and teaching programs in more than 90 communities in eastern Massachusetts and employs more than 450 staff.
Three years ago, Care Dimensions rebranded from Hospice of the North Shore, adopting its current name to more fully reflect the organizations broader geographic reach, as well as expanded services, including palliative care and community education, in addition to hospice services. In 2011, Care Dimensions acquired Partners Hospice, expanding its service to the MetroWest and Greater Boston areas.
