Comm. Foundation of Western Massachusetts Grants $768K

August 12, 2017 — The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts, based in Springfield, yesterday announced it awarded $768,500 to 45 organizations serving the Pioneer Valley relating to arts and culture, economic development, education, the environment, health, housing, and human services.

The awards, ranging from $2,500 to $25,000 were decided by community volunteers who reviewed grant applications, according to the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts (CFWM).

“I never fail to be impressed by the types of projects we see, and the talent and commitment of the nonprofit organizations doing important work to enhance our community,” said Elizabeth Sillin, CFWM trustee vice chair and chair of the Distribution Committee. “It’s a pleasure to be part of the CFWM volunteer group that is determining how best to support the remarkable work happening around us. All of us at the Community Foundation are proud to help make such positive change in our region.”

The Pioneer Valley spans 25 communities in Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties in western Massachusetts, from Holland and Brimfield in the east to Tolland in the west, to Granby and Chester in the north.
