Mass. Nonprofits Among Top Corporate Charitable Donors

September 24, 2017 — Seven Massachusetts nonprofits ranked among the top corporate contributors to Massachusetts-based charitable organizations last year, according to a recently published listing of the largest corporate supporters in the Bay State.

Cummings Properties/Cummings Foundation, based in Woburn, was the top corporate benefactor, giving $21.4 million to charitable organizations.

The nonprofits included in the listing, compiled and published by the Boston Business Journal (BBJ), were Harvard Pilgrim HealthCare (no. 6), Partners HealthCare System (no. 7), Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (no. 10), Boston Red Sox Foundation (no. 15), Tufts Health Plan (no. 18), Boston Bruins Foundation (no. 24), and Tufts Medical Center (no. 33).

The BBJ cited 94 organizations that made a cash contribution of at least $100,000 to Massachusetts-based charities in 2016.

BBJ Publisher Carolyn Jones noted, "We hope the list...[will] inspire all companies to do what they can to support our community needs, whether it be with monetary donations, or time and effort."

Following are the top 25 corporate contributors, according to the BBJ ranking, along with their total cash contributions to Massachusetts nonprofits in 2016:
