Cardinal Cushing Centers Raises $320K via Two Golf Events

Cardinal Cushing Centers, which supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, announced that it raised $320,000 through two golf events to support its programs for students and adults with intellectual disabilities.

The St. Coletta Classic, supported by lead sponsor Rockland Trust, held Sept. 25 at Marshfield Country Club, attracted 120 golfers. Other top sponsors included Bob’s Discount Furniture, East Commerce Solutions, UCI Builders, and Jumbo Capital Management.

Cushing parents Jean and Fred Raymond spoke to golfers during the reception, sharing how the organization has positively impacted their daughter Katie’s life. The Cushing Chorus also performed some of their favorite songs while golfers participated in a silent auction via mobile bidding. In addition to sponsorship and auction dollars, golfers could donate via fund-a-need and mobile bidding.

The Cardinal Cushing Centers Classic teed off on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at Blackrock Country Club in Hingham. Lead tournament sponsor, Bob’s Discount Furniture, has been supporting this event for the past 10 years.

A field of 80 golfers had the opportunity to participate in live and silent auctions as well as a fund-a-need, and successfully utilized mobile bidding.

Established in 1947, Cardinal Cushing Centers began as a day and residential school for students with intellectual disabilities. With additional locations in Braintree, Cushing now supports over 600 individuals of all ages, with the goal of helping each student and adult to become included and independent members of society.

Among programs Cushing offers are those relating to affordable housing, community programs, education, employment training, recreational, therapeutic, and residential services.
