Eastern Bank Grants $10K to Each of 131 Mass. Nonprofits

October 21, 2017 — Eastern Bank on Thursday announced it has granted $10,000 to each of 131 Massachusetts nonprofits that are committed to helping immigrants succeed, which it described as "an area of great need" across the state.

The selected grantees address a variety of issues facing immigrants, including: assistance for those seeking asylum, separated families, English for speakers of other languages, adult basic education and workforce development. Others assist specific subsets of immigrant communities, including LGBTQ, women, and those serving in the U.S. military. They will be recognized at the bank's annual Celebration of Social Justice reception on Oct. 23.
