WE CAN Appoints Dianne Gauthier as Next Exec. Director

Dianne Gauthier
March 5, 2018 — WE CAN, a nonprofit based in Harwich Port that provides legal, career, financial planning, and other services to women on Cape Cod, today announced that Dianne Gauthier has been named as its next executive director.

Gauthier succeeds Andi Genser, who will retire this year after serving as executive director for the last eight years.

Pam Kukla, board president of WE CAN (Women’s Empowerment through Cape Area Networking), said, “The WE CAN board and staff, and Andi, are excited to have Dianne begin to lead our organization. In addition to her considerable operational and development experience, she has been part of the Cape community for many years, and has a deep understanding of WE CAN’s core values, including collaboration with other Cape nonprofits. Dianne will be a real champion for WE CAN and the Cape women that we serve.”

Gauthier recently served as senior director of volunteer services at the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts, where she defined and implemented a strategy for member retention, training, and development.

She also served as a development consultant for the Lower Cape Outreach Council in Orleans.

“I am honored to join WE CAN as the new executive director,” Gauthier said. “I am greatly inspired by WE CAN’s mission and extraordinary programming. WE CAN’s staff and dedicated volunteers have been empowering women across Cape Cod for over a decade and I look forward to building on that momentum and strength.”

Gauthier earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Babson College. She has volunteered with the Barnstable County Fair and the Barnstable Community Horace Mann Charter School.

Under Genser's leadership, WE CAN increased the number of women served annually from 500 to more than 2,500. Today, it engages more than 300 volunteers to help provide services in Harwich Port, Hyannis, and Falmouth.

WE CAN was founded in 2001 and moved to its permanent home in Harwich Port in 2013 after completing a capital campaign.

For the year ending Dec. 31, 2016, WE CAN reported $569,000 in revenue, of which $381,000 came from contributions and grants, and $524,000 in expenses, according to its most recently available federal tax filing.
