Employment Options Appoints Shannon Leary as Exec. Director
March 15, 2018 Employment Options, a Marlboro nonprofit that provides services to individuals recovering from mental illness, recently announced that Shannon Leary has been appointed executive director.
She succeeds Toni A. Wolf and has been the acting executive director since Wolfs appointment last summer as commissioner of the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission.
Shannon is an innovative and energetic leader who thinks both strategically and creatively while motivating teams of professionals to perform at their best, said Ellen Dorian, board president of Employment Options
. She has proven ability in developing strategic partners and stakeholders within the community to enhance the organization.
Leary joined Employment Options 12 years ago, having served successfully as clubhouse director, executive events director, and associate director.
She spearheaded development of Catering Options, a social enterprise of Employment Options that provides professional training and work experience to unemployed and underemployed individuals in the MetroWest region, many of whom have gone on to work in culinary positions in the community.
Leary said, I continue to be inspired by Toni Wolfs passion and energy. She has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to individuals and families in mental health recovery and she has had a tremendous impact in MetroWest. I hope to honor her legacy by building on the foundation she and others have set."
Leary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Our Lady of the Elms College. She is a graduate of Leadership MetroWest and received the Department of Mental Health Northeast Suburban Community Provider of the Year award in 2010. Leary is a member of several area Chambers of Commerce and has also served as vice president and board member of the Major David Brodeur Memorial Foundation.
MetroWest is loosely bounded by Routes 128 on the east, Route 495 on the west, Route 2 on the north, and Route 109 on the south.
For the year ending June 30, 2016, Employment Options reported $1.81 million in revenue, of which $248,000 came from contributions and grants, and $1.84 million in expenses, according to its most recently available federal tax filing.
