Bridgewell Gala Raises $355K as It Notes 60 Years of Service

April 1, 2018 — Bridgewell, a Lynnfield nonprofit that supports individuals with developmental and psychiatric disabilities, recently announced it raised $355,000 at its recent gala, surpassing its goal for the annual event.

The tenth annual Imagine the Possibilities celebration, Bridgewell, held at the Fairmont Copley Plaza, which attracted 360 attendees, had sought to raise $337,000. It surpassed last year's fundraising total by 15%.

The funds will be used to support ongoing efforts to meeting individualized needs of people in Bridgewell's care.

“We are thrilled we exceeded our gala fundraising goal thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and the support of the individuals who attended the event,” said Kelly J. Martin, Bridgewell president & CEO. “The money raised from this event allows Bridgewell to continue its mission. We look forward to continuing to serve those who need it most, and to providing core community support for many more decades to come.”

Funds for the event were raised through tickets sales, sponsorship, online auction and a live, silent and Fund A Need auctions at the gala.

Bridgewell, which celebrated its 60th anniversary, honored Mark Kennard, former executive director of Project COPE, an organization that provided community-based prevention, education and treatment services for individuals with substance use disorders before merging with Bridgewell in 2014.

Kennard, former director of community services at Bridgewell, said, “As more people struggle to find a path to treatment and recovery, we as a community need to show more compassion and provide treatment options for those who are suffering with substance use disorder.”

Sponsors included Citizens Bank, Fire Pump Testing Company and VoDaVi Technologies, AA Maintenance Solutions, Inc., Caruso & McGovern Construction, Inc., Davco Security Systems, Inc., Fisher & George Electrical Company, Inc., Lancelot Janitorial & Paper Products, MacDonald & Vaccaro Insurance Agency, Inc., Philadelphia Insurance Companies, and Risk Strategies Company. WCVB-TV was the media sponsor.

The evening featured Bridgewell’s “60 Years, 60 Stories” storytelling series that celebrates the lives of the people it serves, highlighting members of the Bridgewell community who shared their stories about how the organization changed their lives.

Established in 1958, Bridgewell today serves more than 6,000 individuals and their families annually through 100 programs offered in 23 communities in eastern Massachusetts. With more than 1,300 employees, Bridgewell’s provides residential services, day habilitation, behavioral health services, employment training, transitional homeless services, affordable housing, and substance abuse and addiction services.
