August 9, 2019 The Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts, based in Fitchburg, this week announced that Steve Adams has been appointed president and chief executive officer of the organization.
Adams, succeeds Philip Grzewinski, who retired this summer after serving as president and chief executive officer since the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts
(CFNCM) was founded in 2001.
"The foundation enthusiastically welcomes Steve Adams as our next president, said Henri Sans, board chair. Steve has spent his career creating economic opportunity for all. He will significantly enlarge the foundations impact and help donors to establish lasting charitable legacies that will transform lives and improve our communities.
Adams has more than 20 years of experience managing and participating in public/private collaborations that leveraged civic energy and philanthropic support to meet the needs of disadvantaged businesses, individuals, and communities.
He served in a number of positions that enable civic innovation, including as deputy director of the National Fund for Workforce Solutions and on the board of Common Cause Massachusetts.
Earlier, he was an urban entrepreneurship advisor for the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Having lived in Worcester County for 15 years, I am familiar with many of the challenges and opportunities facing the communities of North Central Massachusetts, and I have much to learn, said Adams. I am thrilled to join the seasoned foundation staff and dedicated board of trustees in their mission to improve the quality of life in the region for everyone.
Adams earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political studies from Queen's University and a Master of Public Administration degree in economic development management from Penn State University.
CFNCM today has total assets of $52 million and manages 229 funds. During its 2018 fiscal year it distributed $3.8 million via grants and donor advised distributions.
