CitySpace Gets $25K to Advance Restoration Work

CitySpace, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring Old Town Hall in Northampton, recently announced that it received $25,000 from the John Victor Machuga Foundation for the second-floor renovation of Old Town Hall.

The new funds will go toward a needed match for a $200,000 grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council Cultural Facilities Fund awarded to CitySpace in June.

Included in the restoration, renovations, and repairs will be an accessible entryway, elevator to all floors of the building, and flexible performing arts and community space with green room, offices, concessions, restrooms, and storage.

Form 990 Overview Course Available from the IRS

Nonprofits that have questions about regarding completing Form 990 to file annually with the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) may want to take the free online From 990 Overview Course that the agency offers.

Form 990-series returns are not tax forms; their primary purpose isn’t to report financial information. They’re intended to provide the IRS and the public information about your organization’s programs, activities, relationships, transactions, and governance, in addition to revenues, expenses and assets.

The course shows five things organizations can do during the year to make Form 990 filing easier, seven tips to save time when filling out the form, and general instruction for filling out the form.
