Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts Invites Letters of Intent

The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts is invited nonprofits focused on improving the health of those who live or work in central Massachusetts, particularly vulnerable populations, to submit letters of intent for grants to

Previous grants from the foundation's Activation Fund have ranged from $10,000 to $100,000, with an average grant size of just under $60,000. In general, grants are for a year in duration.

The foundation strongly suggested that interested organizations email to info@hfcm.org to discuss proposed project ideas with foundation staff by April 17.

Deadline to submit: April 30. Details.

BCBS Massachusetts Solicits Proposals for Health Care Access Initiatives

The The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation is invited Massachusetts nonprofits that serve low-income and vulnerable people, particularly individuals receiving MassHealth or other subsidized health insurance, to apply for non-renewable grants of up to $50,000.

Grants will be awarded to proposals that expand access to coverage and care for low-income and vulnerable people; advance knowledge and information about health issues that affect low-income residents of the state and lay the foundation for evidence-based results for healthcare delivery, public, and subsidized coverage; promote efforts that validate the impact of social services on health status; and evaluate the effectiveness of programs or engage in a variety of other activities that promote access to quality care and coverage for low-income and vulnerable residents of Massachusetts.

Cambridge Community Foundation Asks Nonprofits for Innovative Ideas

The Cambridge Community Foundation recently issued an invitation to nonprofits that serve Cambridge to submit to the second Social Innovation Award competition original ideas "that exhibit creativity, daring, and ambition" solutions to pressing social problems.

The award winner will receive $5,000 and two runners-up will each receive $1,000, and all three will get free consulting with the foundation and join a growing network of social entrepreneurs in the community.

Deadline to apply: May 4. Details.
