Mass. Nonprofits, Leaders Hailed as Models of Excellence
June 25, 2020 — The Massachusetts Nonprofit Network, the state's nonprofit trade association, yesterday recognized four organizations and two nonprofit leaders as models of excellence in connection with Nonprofit Awareness Day, an annual tribute to the contributions of Massachusetts nonprofits.
Commending the work of Massachusetts nonprofits, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who participated in the event, held virtually for the first time since Nonprofit Awareness Day was established in 2009, due to the coronavirus pandemic, noted, "The Commonwealth needs all the help it can get to survive this pandemic, which is why work you do is so important."
"Nonprofits, who strengthen their communities and who are on the front lines of the COVID-19 response, need to be celebrated now more than ever," said Jim Klocke, CEO of the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network (MNN). “We are honored to recognize the excellent work being done by all of our award winners. We are also grateful for Citizens Bank and their continued support of the Nonprofit Awareness Day celebration.”
Each organization honored at the event will receive a $500 award from Citizens Bank.
Receiving this year's Nonprofit Excellence Awards, which recognize "the innovative and effective work of nonprofits across Massachusetts," were the following:
The winners were selected from a field of 130 nominees, which was winnowed down to 27 finalists.
Previous celebrations of Nonprofit Awareness Day were held at the State House, with last year's event drawing 150 nonprofit, political, and business leaders.
