Western Mass. Nonprofits Get $1.2M to Help Build Community

March 16, 2021 — Baystate Health, based in Springfield, recently announced that it granted $1,230,665 to 16 western Massachusetts nonprofits to support projects related to reducing social isolation, social support for youth, building connectedness to community for low-income adults, and social justice.

Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield distributed the following grants focused on the social environment:

  • Community Action Pioneer Valley, Youth Partnership for Social Change and Healing Justice: $100,000
  • Just Roots, Everyone’s Farm to Everyone’s Table: $108,474
  • Musica Franklin, After School Music Program: $60,000
  • Stone Soup Café, Community Needs Assessment: $38,526

​Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, distributed the following grants focused on education:

  • Boys & Girls Club of Greater Holyoke, Education and Resilience Initiative: $93,000
  • Community Adolescent Resource and Education (CARE) Center, Bard Micro college: $120,000
  • Girls Inc. of Pioneer Valley, Growing the Girls Inc. Experience: $60,000
  • Project Coach: $112,000
  • Roca, Roca’s Educational Advancement Project: $130,000

Baystate Noble Hospital, Westfield, distributed the following grants focused on the built environment:

  • Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, Food Insecurity Screening and Referral Initiative: $84,500
  • Mental Health Association & CORE of Greater Westfield, Substance Use Recovery Coach: $84,500

Baystate Wing Hospital, Palmer, distributed the following grants focused on the social environment:

  • Alzheimer’s Association, ALZ and Baystate Better Together: $50,000
  • The Literacy Project, Building Healthy Lifestyles Together: $43,664
  • Greater Springfield Senior Services, Medically tailored meals and nutrition education: $51,000
  • Quaboag Hills Community Coalition, Seeds of Hope: $50,000
  • Quaboag Valley Community Development Corporation, Financial Fitness Club: $45,000
